PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical treatment instrument having a distal end with excellent opening/closing operability.SOLUTION: A surgical treatment instrument 1 includes openable/closable distal end 2 (a pair of treatment pieces 2A and 2B) at one end, and the distal end 2 is opened/closed by slide operation of an operation part 7 provided at a handle part 4. Advance/retraction operational ability generated by the slide operation of the operation part 7 is transmitted to a drive shaft 5, where a gear 9 is provided between the operation part 7 and the drive shaft 5.
