Disclosed is an apparatus for sensing abnormal breathing comprising: a sensor for sensing photoplethysmogram from optical signals received by being reflected from a user body； a bandpass filter for extracting signals of a necessary band from the photoplethysmogram received from the sensor； an analog-digital converter for performing a digital conversion for the filtered signal； and an abnormal breathing recognition unit which extracts a respiratory rate signal from the digital-converted photoplethysmogram signal, derives a plurality of respiratory rate feature values for the extracted respiratory rate signal through a time axis analysis, and senses abnormal breathing by using the derived plurality of respiratory rate feature values. The abnormal breathing sensing apparatus according to the present invention can be used in a survival monitoring for seniors living alone, soldiers separated during operations, and survivors isolated in a disaster/accident, and in a sleep quality diagnosis and monitoring thereof.사용자 신체로부터 반사되어 수신되는 광신호로부터 광용적맥파를 센싱하는 센서, 상기 센서로부터 수신된 광용적맥파로부터 필요 대역의 신호를 추출하는 대역통과 필터, 상기 필터링된 신호에 대해 디지털 변환을 수행하는 아날로그-디지털 변환기, 및 디지털 변환된 광용적맥파 신호로부터 호흡률 신호를 추출하고, 추출된 호흡률 신호에 대해 시간 축 분석을 통해 복수의 호흡률 특징 값을 도출하고, 도출된 복수의 호흡률 특징 값을 이용해 이상 호흡을 감지하는 이상호흡 인지부를 포함하는 이상호흡 감지 장치가 개시된다. 본 발명에 따른 이상호흡 감지 장치는 독거노인 및 군사 작전시 고립된 병사들, 재난/사고 현장에 고립된 사람들의 생존 여부 모니터링, 수면 질 진단 및 모니터링 등에 활용될 수 있다.
