The use of a borate/polyol and zinc system to enhance the antimicrobial activity of multi-dose pharmaceutical compositions is described. The compositions do not require a conventional anti-microbial preservative and therefore are referred to as being self-preserved. The compositions possess sufficient antimicrobial activity to satisfy the preservative efficacy requirements of the USP for aqueous ophthalmic compositions.본 발명은 다회-용량의 약제학적 조성물의 항균 활성을 강화하기 위해 붕산염/폴리올 및 아연 시스템을 사용하는 것에 관한 것이다. 조성물은 통상적인 항균 방부제를 필요로 하지 않으므로 '자기 보존성'인 것으로 언급된다. 조성물은 수성 안과 조성물에 대한 USP의 방부제 효능 요건을 만족시키기에 충분한 항균 활성을 갖는다.
