The present invention relates to an electric wheelchair incorporating a lifting mechanism which makes it possible to transfer a disabled or dependent person from the wheelchair itself to any desired surface, such as a bed, a toilet, a hospital bed, etc. and vice versa from said surface to the wheelchair, and armrests (10) comprising an anchoring device (12) for fixing a patient support sling (13). The chassis (1) of the wheelchair comprises a lifting mechanism comprising an actuator (14) connected by one end to the backrest (17) and, by the other end, to the armrests (10) for lifting the patient strapped into the sling (13) by displacing the armrests (10) by actuating the actuator (14).
