This device comprises two rails (8a, 8b) for receiving the feet of a stretcher, the rails being integral with two arms (23) fixed to a wall (2a) of the passenger compartment and hinged with respect to the wall to allow the pivoting of the arms towards the wall (2a) of the passenger compartment. The device is characterized in that the rails (8a, 8b) are connected to each other by at least two cross members (9) each formed of two connecting rods (10,11) hinged together and to the rails (8a, 8b) and thereby forming an articulated compass, the two compasses allowing to move the rails towards or away from each other.
