Patent No. 596902 Disclosed is a medical food for the management of a metabolic disorder, comprising glycomacropeptide (GMP) and supplemented amounts of two or more amino acids, wherein one of the supplemented amino acids is arginine and the weight ratio within the medical food of the amino acid arginine to the total protein is from about 60 to 90 milligrams arginine/gram total protein, and wherein another of the supplemented amino acids is leucine and the weight ratio within the medical food of the amino acid leucine to the total protein is from about 100 to 200 milligrams leucine/gram total protein.
