In the present invention, an absorbent body (4) has: a center-section upper absorbent core layer (412) in a widthwise center section (4C), the center-section upper absorbent core layer being located on a front surface sheet (2) side of a longitudinal intermediate section (4M) and both longitudinal end sections (4E) side-section absorbent core layers (413) in both widthwise side sections (4S), the side-section absorbent core layers being located on the front surface sheet side of the longitudinal intermediate section and both longitudinal end sections and adjacent to the center-section upper absorbent core layer (412) and a low-density skeleton layer (411) in the widthwise center section of the longitudinal intermediate section and at least the widthwise center sections of both longitudinal end sections, the low-density skeleton layer containing hydrophilic fibers having a crimp and a water absorbing material. In the longitudinal intermediate section of the widthwise center section, the low-density skeleton layer is in contact with the center-section upper absorbent core layer and located on a back surface sheet (3) side. The low-density skeleton layer has a smaller density than the center-section upper absorbent core layer and both end-section absorbent core layers. The low-density skeleton layer is thicker in the longitudinal center section than both end-section absorbent core layers.
