AN AIR EMBOLISM, OR MORE GENERALLY GAS EMBOLISM, IS A PATHOLOGICAL CONDITION CAUSED BY A GAS BUBBLE, OR BUBBLES, IN A VASCULAR SYSTEM ALTHOUGH AN EMBOLISM IN A MEDICAL CONTEXT REFERS TO ANY LARGE MOVING MASS OR DEFECT IN THE BLOOD STREAM. TREATMENT OF AIR EMBOLISM INCLUDES DISCONTINUATION OF NITROUS OXIDE, ASPIRATION THROUGH A RIGHT HEART CATHETER, ADEQUATE SUPPLEMENTATION OF INSPIRED OXYGEN, AND PREVENTION OF FURTHER AIR ENTRY INTO THE CIRCULATION (FLOODING THE FIELD WITH SALINE, JUGULAR COMPRESSION AND LOWERING THE HEAD IN NEUROSURGICAL CASES. WE HAVE DEVELOPED A SYSTEM TO OVOID AIR EMBOLISM WHERE ONE CAN STOP THE FLOW OF FLUID. THE SYSTEM AND DEVICE FOR ALERTING THE HEALTHCARE PROVIDER WHEN THE IV FLUID IN A BOTTLE IS ABOUT TO BE EMPTY SO THAT ROLLER CLAMP IS CLOSED TO PREVENT THE ENTRY OF AIR IN THE IV TUBING.IT ALSO HAS AN AUTOMATIC ROLLER CLAMP CLOSER UNI f WHICH STOPS THE FURTHER FLOW OF IV FLUID .THE BATTERY OPERATED DEVICE CONSISTS OF A CHASSIS ON WHICH A MOVABLE LIGHTWEIGHT PLATE SUSPENDED BY A SPRING. IV FLUID BOTTLE IS FIXED ON THIS PLATE .THERE ARE TWO SENSORS ON THE BACK OF THE PLATE, SO WHEN THE BOTTLE BECOMES NEARLY EMPTY THE BOTTLE IS PULLED UP BY SPRING , DUE TO WHICH THE SENSORS ARE ACTIVATED AND THE ALARM IS SOUNDED NEAR PATIENT AND WIRELESSLY AT NURSING STATION .IF THE CLAMP IS NOT CLOSED MANUALLY THEN AFTER A TIME DELAY THE SECOND SENSOR ACTIVATES THE MOTOR WHICH CLOSES THE ROLLER CLAMP.THUS PREVENTING AIR ENTRY IN THE IV TUBING RESULTING IN THE PREVENTION OF RISK OF AIR EMBOLISM.
