PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint detection method capable of acquiring a fluorescent cyanoacrylate fingerprint, without bringing a subject into contact with a liquid, and capable of promoting enhancement of detection precision and facilitation of detection.

SOLUTION: The fingerprint detection method includes a heating step for heating a mixture of a cyanoacrylate polymer and a fluorescent pigment, or a cyanoacrylate polymer polymerized using the fluorescent pigment as a polymerization initiator, to generate a gas mixture of the cyanoacrylate polymer and the fluorescent pigment, an exposure step for exposing the subject in a gas mixture atmosphere, an ultraviolet ray application step for applying an ultraviolet ray onto a surface of the subject deposited with the cyanoacrylate polymer and the fluorescent pigment, and a photographing step for exciting, with a blue ray, the fluorescent pigment on the surface of the subject irradiated with the ultraviolet ray, and for photographing the fluorescent fingerprint image emitted from the fluorescent pigment. Dimethyl amino benzaldehyde (DMAB) is preferably used as the fluorescent pigment.
