PURPOSE: An ecological block and a retaining wall construction method using the same are provided to offer various colors and surface patterns because the ecological block is molded out of synthetic resin. CONSTITUTION: A retaining wall construction method using ecological blocks(100) is as follows. Two or more ecological blocks formed with coupling projections(121) are prepared. A concrete foundation, and first and second stage retaining walls are successively formed. The retaining wall forming step is repeated to complete a stepped retaining wall. Aggregate and backfill soil are filled to support the backside of the stepped retaining wall. The top of the stepped retaining wall is finished with concrete.본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 생태블록은, 토류공간을 제공하기 위한 중공을 내부에 구비하는 본체와, 상기 본체의 서로 대향하는 면에 내입홈과 상기 내입홈에 대응하는 형상으로 돌출된 결합돌기를 포함하며, 상기 내입홈과 상기 결합돌기는 상기 본체의 서로 대향하는 면의 상부와 하부에 각각 배치되며, 상기 본체의 서로 대향하는 면에 서로 대향하는 적어도 1 이상의 배수홀이 형성된 것을 특징으로 한다. 이러한 구성에 의하면, 한 종류의 생태블록을 이용하여 전후좌우 뿐만 아니라 상하로 별도의 고정물 없이 고정할 수 있으며 다양한 디자인으로 옹벽을 축조할 수 있으며, 옹벽 내부에 토류공간을 확보하여 용이하게 수분을 보유할 수 있고 배수할 수 있으며, 동물의 이동공간을 확보하여 작은 고기나 양서류 혹은 곤충을 서식시킬 수 있다.
