PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous tricalcium phosphate-based sintered body by which an implant material, which swiftly guides bone structure formation and has practical mechanical strength and at the same time can be substituted with a new bone by being naturally disappeared in vivo, can be realized.
SOLUTION: The porous tricalcium phosphate-based sintered body is one that is obtained by firing &beta-tricalcium phosphate calcination particles having a particle size in the range of 0.1-25 &mum and that has pores substantially oriented in one direction, wherein preferably it has pore characteristics such as a porosity of 40-90% and an average cross sectional area for every pore of 0.05×10
