This invention relates to a pre-grown vegetated mat. The pre-grown vegetated mat comprises a base layer of impermeable material, a burlap layer extending over the base layer, a layer of plant cuttings and/or plants and a top dressing spreading over the burlap layer, the top dressing comprises one or more substances selected from the group consisting of peat moss, coco peat, black loose soil and a combination thereof； and wherein the burlap layer having perforated surface configured to receive the plant cuttings. The invention also relates to a method of producing the pre-grown vegetated mat of the present invention.
