Embodiments of the present invention relate to a charging method using an electrode of a biometric sensor and an electronic device employing the same. According to various embodiments of the present invention, a wearable electronic device comprises: a housing； at least one electrode exposed to the outside through one surface of the housing； a battery provided inside the housing； a charging circuit electrically connected to the battery； at least one sensor； a switch for connecting the charging circuit or the at least one sensor with the at least one electrode； and a processor electrically connected to the charging circuit, the at least one sensor, and the switch, wherein the processor may be configured to determine whether the wearable electronic device is coupled to a body based on a signal obtained through the at least one sensor, and to control the switch to connect the charging circuit or the at least one sensor with the at least one electrode according to the determination result.본 문서에 개시된 실시 예들은 생체 센서의 전극을 이용한 충전 방법 및 이를 적용한 전자 장치와 관련된 것이다. 본 발명의 다양한 실시 예에 따른 웨어러블 전자 장치는, 하우징, 상기 하우징의 일면을 통해 외부로 노출된 적어도 하나의 전극, 상기 하우징의 내부에 구비된 배터리, 상기 배터리와 전기적으로 연결된 충전 회로, 적어도 하나의 센서, 상기 충전 회로 또는 상기 적어도 하나의 센서를 상기 적어도 하나의 전극과 연결하는 스위치 및 상기 충전 회로, 상기 적어도 하나의 센서 및 상기 스위치와 전기적으로 연결된 프로세서를 포함하고, 상기 프로세서는, 상기 적어도 하나의 센서를 통해 획득된 신호에 기초하여, 상기 웨어러블 전자 장치의 신체 결착(coupling) 여부를 판단하고, 상기 판단 결과에 대응하여, 상기 충전 회로 또는 상기 적어도 하나의 센서와 상기 적어도 하나의 전극이 연결되도록 상기 스위치를 제어하도록 설정될 수 있다.
