1. An ingredient for substantially improving the palatability of an oral colon cleansing preparation and providing a patient with an electrolyte replenishment solution, comprising: an electrolytic component with a low chlorine content, which, when re-dissolved in a pharmaceutically acceptable aqueous oral solvent, forms a base replenishment solution an electrolyte containing not more than about 17 mEq of chlorine ions per liter of solution and from 10 to 60 mEq of Na + ions, the above preparation for cleaning the colon does not depend on the presence of sulfate or phosphate to achieve a cleansing effect with such a colon cleanser. 2. The ingredient according to claim 1, containing one or more chlorine-free salts selected from the group consisting of potassium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate and mixtures thereof, and such an amount of citric acid that effectively forms trisodium citrate when such salts and citric acid are dissolved in aqueous solvent. 3. The ingredient according to claim 2, wherein said citric acid is anhydrous citric acid. The ingredient according to claim 2, further comprising a mixture of polyethylene glycol with a molecular weight of from about 2000 to 8000 Da and a sugar alcohol selected from the group consisting of xylitol, erythritol, ribite, arabitol, and mixtures thereof. The ingredient according to claim 4, wherein the combination of polyethylene glycol and sugar alcohol contains at least about 90% (weight) of said composition. An ingredient in a pharmaceutically acceptable low chlorine oral composition for cleaning the colon, containing: a) approximately 0.15-1.5 g potassium bicarbonate； b) approximately 1.0-3.5 g1.
