An endoscope of the invention includes: an insertion portion including a bending portion bendable in an up/down (U-D) direction and a left/right (L-R) direction and a flexible tube portion provided at a rear end of the bending portion in a linked manner rigid tubular members inserted in the insertion portion and a soft tubular member inserted into the insertion portion, in which the respective rigid tubular members are disposed so as to be dispersed in a first quadrant, a second quadrant, and a fourth quadrant among four quadrants sectionalized by a y-axis passing through a rotational center at the time when the bending portion is bent in the up/down direction and an x-axis passing through a rotational center at the time when the bending portion is bent in the left/right direction.
