An embolisation device for promoting clot formation in a lumen comprising a stem and a plurality of flexible bristles extending outwardly from the stem. The bristles have a contracted delivery configuration and a deployed configuration in which the bristles extend generally radially outwardly from the stem to anchor the device in a lumen. The embolisation device comprises a flow restrictor having a contracted delivery configuration and an expanded deployed configuration. The flow restrictor comprises a disc shaped membrane. At least some of the plurality of flexible bristles are configured to urge the flow restrictor into the expanded deployed configuration and/or the contracted delivery configuration. At least a portion of the flow restrictor is located between bristles on both sides of the flow restrictor. The present invention provides an embolisation device that is easy to manufacture and which is more reliable upon deployment.
