A composition and a method that is effective to reduce, limit, or diminish one or more side effects of a retinoid are described. The composition includes a retinoid and a free fatty acid. The composition may further include one or more cosmetically suitable ingredients so long as they do not interfere with the efficaciousness of the free fatty acid.
