PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manual propulsion vehicle in which an assist operation which a user does not intend is suppressed to improve safety, allowing appropriate human power assisting.SOLUTION: A walking assist car 1 which is the manual propulsion vehicle includes a car body part 10, a wheel part 30 for moving the car body part 10, a wheel drive part 81 for driving the wheel part 30, a grip part 20 attached to the car body part 10 for a user to grip it, a grip sensor 71 for detecting a pressure applied on the grip part 20, and a grip state detecting part 101 which detects griping state of the grip part 20 on the basis of the information available from the grip sensor 71.
