Disclosed are heterocyclic carboxamide compounds of formula (I) wherein the substituents are disclosed within the specification, and/or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. An example of a disclosed compound of formula (I) includes N-{ (1S)-2-amino-1-[(3-fluorophenyl)methyl]ethyl} -5-chloro-4-(4-chloro-1-methyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)-2-thiophenecarboxamide. Further disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions of the compounds of formula (I), and a process for preparing said pharmaceutical compositions comprising a compound of formula (I). Also disclosed is the use of the compounds of formula (I) in the preparation of a medicament for treating cancer and arthritis, and their use as inhibitors of protein kinase B.
