The present invention is directed to diclofenac sublingual spray formulations. The present invention is also directed to methods for treating pain and inflammation by administering 'the formulations of the present invention to patients in need thereof. In one aspect, the present invention is directed to sublingual spray formulations comprising from about 5 to about 40 % diclofenac, or a salt thereof, from about 1 to about 50 % polar solvent, and from about 5 to about 30 % co-solvent.
