The present invention provides processes for preparing suspension aerosolformulations, wherein the particles for inhalation are formed in situ duringthe process of manufacturing the formulation. In one aspect of the invention,a process for preparing a suspension aerosol formulation comprises the stepsof: (a) dissolving one or more medicaments in one or more solvents to form asolution and (b) mixing one or more propellants with the solution underconditions effective to precipitate, entirely or partially, at least one ofthe medicaments.
