The present invention addresses the problem of providing a seedling presser with which it is possible to stably pick up a seedling by sufficiently pressing on the seedling even when the height of the seedling is low. A rice transplanter provided with a seedling presser which presses the midsection of a seedling at the bottom edge of a seedling placement rack (33) wherein: the seedling placement rack (33) has ribs (33a) for holding a seedling mat (39) on which multiple seedlings are planted; and the seedling presser can change the height of a contact section which comes into contact with the seedling in accordance with the height of the seedling. In the first embodiment a seedling presser (40) is configured from rod bodies (41) extending in the machine width direction and a space (support holes (44)) through which the seedling presser (40) (rod bodies (41)) can penetrate is provided to the ribs (33a) of the seedling placement rack (33).
