The abutment (1) has at the top a support region intended for receiving a prosthetic buildup construction and at the bottom an implant contact region intended for insertion into a receiving hole of an implant, whereby the abutment (1) has between the support region and the implant contact region a soft tissue contact surface (11). The soft tissue contact surface (11) is at least partially hydroxylated. The present invention further relates to an abutment (1) of a dental implant system, the soft tissue contact surface (11) of which is at least partially silanated, and to a method for the preparation thereof.
