Novel crystalline forms of spiro compounds that act as muscarinic acetylcholine receptor agonists are provided. In particular, an isolated crystalline polymorph of (S) -2-ethyl-8-methyl-1-thia-4,8-diazaspiro [4.5] decan-3-one having favorable properties for pharmaceutical manufacture Is described. Also included is a method for preparing the crystalline polymorphs described above, a method for converting them to each other, and suitable for use in the treatment of diseases and disorders that respond to modulation of muscarinic acetylcholine receptors.
