The present invention is generally directed to a drug delivery device for selecting and dispensing a number of user variable doses of a medicament and to an insert (12, 19) for such a device. The insert comprises a cup-shaped body with a distal end and a proximal end. The body has a sidewall (13) and a tube (14) extends centrally through the cup-shaped body in the longitudinal direction defining an annular space between the sidewall (13) and the tube (14). This space is open in the proximal direction for receiving a compression spring (130). The tube (14) comprises a thread (17) provided at its inner surface.
