Disclosed herein are methods of diagnosing, monitoring and treating iron disorders using assays of serum ferritin. Some embodiments relate to detection and management of iron and iron-containing proteins in the body. For instance, the level of ferritin may be determined by contacting a sample with one or more magnetic nanoparticles measuring an absorbance of the sample in the presence and in the absence of a magnetic field and comparing the absorbance of the sample in the presence of the magnetic field to the absorbance of the sample in the absence of the magnetic field to determine the level of ferritin in the sample.Cette invention concerne des méthodes permettant de diagnostiquer, de surveiller et de traiter des troubles liés au fer à laide de dosages de la ferritine sérique. Certains modes de réalisation concernent la détection et la régulation du fer et des protéines contenant du fer dans le corps. Par exemple, le taux de ferritine peut être déterminé par mise en contact dun échantillon avec une ou plusieurs nanoparticules magnétiques mesure dune absorbance de léchantillon en présence et en labsence dun champ magnétique et comparaison de labsorbance de léchantillon en présence du champ magnétique à labsorbance de léchantillon en labsence du champ magnétique pour déterminer le taux de ferritine dans léchantillon.
