Pig hair fibre based biocomposite and a method for its preparation relates to methods for preparing thermosetting composites that are reinforced animal fibres, particularly pig hair fibre. A protein fiber-reinforced biocomposite particulate material containing an organic thermosetting resin, and rigid biocomposite pressure-formed materials produced therefrom, are provided. The resultant pressure-formed materials have moisture content of 5-10% and a ratio of protein fibre solids to resin solids of 1:6 to 1:15. The biocomposite that is obtained by hardening a thermosetting composite that is reinforced with animal fibre, particularly pig hair fibre is described herewith.
