Self-injector (1) for administering doses of a liquid drug M, comprising: - a tubular chassis (2) that can be telescopically inserted into a tubular cover (12), - a support subset comprising a tubular support ( 7) slidably disposed with respect to the chassis (2) inside the cover (12), the support (7) being adapted to contain a syringe (3) with a hollow injection needle (4), a driving spring (8) ) and a plunger (9) to advance the loading of the delivery spring (8) to a stop (6) of the syringe (3), in which the syringe (3) can be locked for axial translation jointly with the support (7), - a push button (13) disposed distally or laterally on or on the cover (12), - a control spring (19) arranged around the support (7), - a plunger release mechanism (27) arranged to release the plunger (9) to expel the medicine when the support (7) has reached at least almost a proxy position badly extended, characterized in that the auto-injector (1) further comprises: - a needle extension control mechanism (24) for attaching a proximal end of the control spring (19) to either the support (7) for make it advance for the extension of the needle or the chassis (2) for the withdrawal of the needle, depending on the relative axial position of the support (7) and the chassis (2). - a stop mechanism (18) arranged to couple the chassis (2) to the support (7) for joint axial translation relative to the cover (12), in which the stop mechanism (18) is arranged to disengage the chassis (2) of the support (7) after actuation of the push button (13), thus allowing the support (7) to move relative to the chassis (2) such as to cause the control mechanism of the extension of the needle (24) replace the proximal end of the control spring (19) with the support (7) for the extension of the needle, - a syringe fold control mechanism (25) to couple a distal end of the control spring (19) to any of the support (7) for the withdrawal of the needle or the cover (12) in another way.Auto-inyector (1) para ad
