An object of the present invention is to provide an osteoporosis treatment or prevention agent that targets a molecule causing osteoporosis, and to provide a method for screening for such treatment or prevention agent. In the present invention, HIF1α is identified as a molecule causing osteoporosis, and a compound capable of inhibiting HIF1α using HIF1α as a molecular target is provided as a therapeutic agent for osteoporosis. Moreover, the screening method of the compound which can be used as an osteoporosis treatment or a preventive agent is provided with the inhibition of HIF1 (alpha) as a parameter index.本発明は、骨粗鬆症の発症原因となる分子を標的とする骨粗鬆症治療又は予防剤の提供、及びそのような治療又は予防剤をスクリーニングする方法の提供を目的とする。 本発明においては、骨粗鬆症の発症原因となる分子としてＨＩＦ１αを同定し、ＨＩＦ１αを分子標的としてＨＩＦ１αを阻害し得る化合物を骨粗鬆症治療剤として提供する。また、ＨＩＦ１αの阻害を指標として骨粗鬆症治療又は予防剤として用い得る化合物のスクリーニング方法を提供する。
