The extraction module includes independently controllable coring and clipping devices. The visualization component acts to align a target hair follicle with the extraction module. The extraction module also includes at least one independently controllable suction port. The instrument also includes a dissection module having a tissue separating device. The instrument also includes a dermal shifter for aligning the hair follicles with the axis of the extraction module.
