ABSTRACTTITLE OF THE INVENTION: A SYSTEM FOR MONITORING HEMODIALYSIS EFFICACY OF A SUBJECTThe system for determining hemodialysis efficacy of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients comprises a breath-test model, which is constructed based on correlation equation between Kt/V values in blood samples and stable isotope ratios of exhaled breath 13CO2/12CO2 in ESRD patients. The system involves, the patient’s carbon isotopes of breath CO2 as input parameters to determine the Kt/V value non-invasively from the pre- and post-dialysis states that provides the effectiveness of hemodialysis in ESRD patients. The said system measures the carbon-13 and carbon-12 isotopes in exhaled breath CO2 to execute the model. The model is run into a compatible computer through the custom written programme. This non-invasive system is useful to get the health feedback of ESRD patients after hemodialysis at the same efficacy without measuring any blood urea and creatinine levels.
