PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insertion assisting tool for an endoscope which includes an operating mechanism for switching tubes through which washing water or the like for an observation window and a lighting window of an insertion portion of the endoscope into opening condition or closing condition, and works as follows: one of two tubes is turned into opening condition and another tube is turned into closing condition by a primary stage operation of an operation member, and both of the tubes are turned into opening condition by a secondary stage operation of the operation member.SOLUTION: In the insertion assisting tool 10 attached to a rigid endoscope 12, a handle portion 30 is provided at the proximal end of a sheath insertion portion 14. In the handle portion 30, a tube for supplying CO2 gas and a tube for supplying washing water are inserted into a nozzle at the distal end of the sheath insertion portion 14.
