In Cavendish banana plantations and even small growers, bell injection has provided Cavendish banana growers with a pest control technique that is highly effective cost efficient and environmentally friendly. There are three types of injectors used as of this date； syringe injection, pressurized hand sprayer and artificial insemination gun modified injector. Each of these injectors has drawbacks such of this was the accuracy, efficiency of application and most of all the cost of the equipment. To alleviate these conditions, a mechanical banana blossom injector was developed and evaluated for this purpose. A push button attached to the lance of the injectors signals the microcontroller to switch on the relay that controls the pump and the solenoid valve. The system has a potentiometer that controls the time of which the pump and solenoid valve will run after triggered by the pushbutton and therefore control the amount of chemical delivered to the inflorescence thus improving the efficiency and accuracy of the application of the chemical solution compared to conventional means or manual applications.
