PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MMP-2 inhibitor for preventing and ameliorating skin ageing such as deterioration in elasticity and firmness of the skin, wrinkles, rough skin and the like caused by enhancement of MMP-2 activity by exposure to ultraviolet rays or active oxygen and ageing, and to provide a skin care preparation for external use that has an action of shrinking a skin pore, conditioning skin texture and improving spreading of a cosmetic on the skin.SOLUTION: A matrix metalloprotease-2 inhibitor includes an extract from Orthosiphon aristatus of the family Labiatae.
