Disclosed are a method for determining whether a user has a viewing difficulty in decoding a content displayed on a display and an apparatus thereof. While the user looks at the content displayed on the display, at least one image of the user is captured. And a facial parameter related with eyesight of the user is obtained from the captured image. Then, it is determined whether the user has the viewing difficulty in decoding the content, on the basis of the obtained facial parameter. The method can be performed in a device such as a smart phone, a tablet PC or a television.
