Seven aptamers specific to cefquinome are selected employing SELEX. The dissociation constants of aptamer-cefquinome are in nanomolar range indicating their higher affinity and thus industrially usefulness for developing methods for detection/estimation of cefquinome in biological samples. These aptamers are also of commercial value for making their strategic use for removal of cefquinome residues from various biological fluids. The aptamers can also be used for slow release of antibiotics in disease treatment as well as for overcoming ill effect of antibiotics.
