PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for cognitive function observation which allow a subject to easily observe a cognitive function while enjoying listening music.SOLUTION: A cognitive function observation system 10 is formed of a panel device 20 and a device body 30. The panel device 20 comprises sensors SA-SI for detecting the fact that buttons 24A-24I are pressed by a user. A routine setting program 44 of the device body 30 sets a routine so that a tone row of specific music is reproduced by repeatedly touching selected one or more buttons in a prescribed order. Then, when the routine is presented to the user by a routine presentation program 46, and the user stores and executes the presented routine, a sound output program 50 refers to a routine table, and outputs a sound corresponding to the pressed button.
