A scalp-protecting composition before hair-coloring is provided to alleviate scalp irritation induced by a permanent oxidative hair dyeing agent without influencing on dyeing capability thereof and reduce skin side effects such as contagious dermatitis caused by using a dyeing agent. A scalp protecting composition for alleviating scalp irritation caused by hair-coloring comprises 0.10-30.0 wt.% of at least one amino acid selected from the group consisting of taurine, methionine, histidine and a mixture thereof.
