Bone healing after a fracture usually takes at least 6 weeks for adults. This process is faster for children and later for elders. If we can speed up this healing process, the length of admission can be shortened and patients can return to work earlier.Physical energy such as ultrasound, electricity, and so on has been proved to be beneficial for bone healing. Ultrasound can transduce into the bone through skin easily and therefore is already commercialized. Other forms of energy can hardly transduce through skin and are not commercialized.This invention aimed to use bone screws, not only to fix the fracture but also to transduce physical energy in order to enhance bone healing.
