The polysaccharide released from the unicellular cyanobacterium Cyanothece sp. CCY 0110 exhibits low cytotoxicity and proves to be suitable for the delivery of macromolecules. The cyanobacterium extracellular polymer disclosed in the present subject-matter, namely a polysaccharide and more in particular an heteropolysaccharide, assembles with proteins into a new phase with gel-like behaviour and the release kinetics can be modulated (i.e., delayed) by adding divalent cations and/or also exhibits physical and chemical properties typical of a bioemulsifier or a bioflocculant.Le polysaccharide libéré à partir de la cyanobactérie unicellulaire Cyanothece sp. CCY 0110 présente une faible cytotoxicité et s'avère approprié pour l'administration de macromolécules. Le polymère extracellulaire de cyanobactérie décrit dans la présente invention, à savoir un polysaccharide et plus particulièrement un hétéropolysaccharide, assemble avec des protéines en une nouvelle phase avec un comportement de type gel et la cinétique de libération peut être modulée (c'est-à-dire retardée) par l'ajout de cations divalents et/ou présente également des propriétés physiques et chimiques typiques d'un bioémulsifiant ou d'un biofloculant.
