The digital pressure sensor is configured to measure the pressure applied thereto and to generate a corresponding signal indicative of the measured pressure. The control component or digital pressure sensor is further configured to control at least one functional element of the aerosol dispensing device based on the pressure indicated by the corresponding signal or the state of the user or the aerosol dispensing device determined from the corresponding signal .
