Bio-impedance signal captured from human body carries valuable information about the physiological processes of human body. This invention presents a non-invasive portable low cost embedded healthcare monitoring system for analysis of body composition, detection and analysis of clinical diseases like heart diseases and skin diseases. The system consists of various types of electrodes connected to impedance converter as per measurement requirement. The impedance converter acts as an interface between electrodes and microcontroller. Microcontroller computes unknown impedance by reading real and imaginary parts of unknown body impedance from registers of impedance converter. Personal computer connected via serial interface to the microcontroller, reads data from microcontroller and stores it in database on secondary storage. This database forms a permanent historical data of patients for statistical analysis of various diseases and also aids in generation of patient specific reports. Single and multi-frequency analysis on whole human body and its segments using empirical equations gives composition of human body. Hemodynamic measurements of human body help in analysis of heart diseases. The impedance of diseased skin shows regular pattern with variation in applied frequency and is typically lower than the impedance of the normal skin.
