The method involves preparing a medical implant withy an upper surface to be coated and contacting the upper surface of the medical implant with an elastically deformable transfer unit (8). The transfer unit is provided with liquid, which has pharmaceutical active substance. The liquid is transferred from the transfer unit to the upper surface of the medical implant during contacting of the transfer unit. An independent claim is also included for a device for section-wise coating of a medical implant.
