A mask for alleviating the symptoms of nocturnal Lagophthalmos comprising a mask body 2 to be fitted to a wearer's head and to over lay the eyes. Mask body 2 includes an inner face shaped to conform to orbital contours of the wearer’s face, so that when worn, the mask rests against the sleeping wearer's eyes to maintain the eyelids in a closed state. The mask body’s inner face may comprise raised formations 10 to engage the wearer’s eyelids. Raised formations 10 may comprise dimples. Preferably raised formations 10 comprise ribs that may extend transversely across the mask body’s inner face. Mask body 2 may comprise at least a portion with ventilation perforations 12. Also a method of making a mask for alleviating the symptoms of nocturnal Lagophthalmos comprising the steps of: modelling the wearer’s orbital contours; and making a mask body 2 that comprises an inner face conforming to the wearer’s orbital contours. The step of modelling orbital contours may comprises a 3D optical scanning process, possibly the modelling comprises a photogrammetry process using an image of the wearer’s face. At least a portion of the mask body 12 defining the inner face, may be formed by 3D printing.
