The present invention provides a composition including one or more types selected from a group comprising a fermented Arctium lappa extract, arctiin, arctigenin, and pharmaceutically or sitologically acceptable salt thereof for treatment, alleviation, and/or prevention of obesity or obesity related diseases. The fermented Arctium lappa extract, arctiin, arctigenin, etc can be used as a food and drug ingredient comprising a pharmaceutical composition or a functional food composition. The arctiin and arctigenin activate AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and lower expression of fat synthesis-related genes, thereby being effective in suppressing accumulation of neutral lipids and differentiation of preadipocyte into adipocyte.본 발명은 발효 우엉 추출물, 악틴(arctiin), 악티게닌(arctigenin) 및 이들의 약학적 또는 식품학적으로 허용가능한 염으로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 1종 이상을 유효 성분으로 포함하는 비만 또는 비만 관련 질환의 예방, 개선 또는 치료용 조성물을 제공한다. 본 발명에 따른 발효 우엉 추출물, 악틴(arctiin), 악티게닌(arctigenin) 등은 약학 조성물 또는 기능성 식품 조성물을 구성하는 식의약적 소재로 사용될 수 있다. 특히, 본 발명에 따른 악틴(arctiin), 악티게닌(arctigenin)은 AMPK(AMP-activated protein kinase)를 활성화시키고 지방합성 관련 유전자의 발현을 하향 조절시키기 때문에 전구지방세포의 지방세포로의 분화시 분화를 억제하는 효과 및 중성지질의 축적을 억제하는 효과가 우수하다.
