Disclosed are embodiments of a system and method for automatically adjusting auto-shield filter device parameters in response to a setting of a welding system. One implementation includes a head-mounted device with a wireless receiver, auto-shielding device, and selection device. The wireless receiver is configured to receive a wirelessly transmitted communication signal from the arc welding system, indicating the current welding current setting and the current welding mode setting of the arc welding system. The selection device is configured to automatically select the shade and sensitivity of the auto-shielding device in response to the current welding current setting and the current welding mode setting.
