PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modular wall planting system which allows plant matter to be secured to vertical and substantially vertical surfaces of wall structures of free standing walls and buildings, thereby increasing the aesthetic appearance of the structure as well as improving the thermal efficiency of associated buildings.SOLUTION: A mounting structure comprises a first member including a first end and a second end, wherein the mounting structure is supported from a substantially vertically extending wall surface 12, and a planter box 14 that includes a plurality of sidewalls 16 and a bottom wall that form a compartment adapted to receive plant matter therein and an upwardly opening aperture adapted to receive a fluid therethrough.
