PURPOSE: A refrigerator for kimchi is provided to reduce the power consumption and noise due to its ability to control the temperatures of two refrigeration cycles.CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator for kimchi comprises a high-stage side compressor(110), a high-stage side condenser(120), a high-stage expander(140), a high-stage evaporator(150) included in a high-stage refrigeration cycle(100), a low-stage compressor(210), a low-stage expander(230), a refrigeration cycle(200) including a low-stage evaporator(240), a cascade heat exchanger(300) which absorbs refrigerants passing from the high-stage refrigeration cycle to the low-stage refrigeration cycle with the low-stage expander connecting to the low-stage and the high stage refrigeration cycle. A branch line(400) is connected with an open part of the high-stage expander and an end part of the high-stage evaporator to and the cascade heat exchanger is connected to the center of an end part of the low-stage of the compressor and an open part of the low-stage compressor. A step valve(410) is connected to a connection part of an open part of the high-stage compressor in the branch line. The first storage compartment with the high-stage evaporator is used as a storage compartment for re-cooling and the second storage compartment with the low-stage evaporator is used as a storage for freezing and cooling.
