PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a formulation which inhibits excessive production of endothelin-1 and keeps the skin healthy, particularly to provide a formulation effective in whitening, and further to provide a formulation also effective against diseases such as hypertension, pulmonary hypertension, cerebrovascular spasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage, renal failure, myocardial infarction, asthma, arteriosclerosis, vasculitis, and sepsis.SOLUTION: We found out that a mixture of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid or a salt thereof, L-arginine, L-aspartic acid, glycine, L-alanine, L-serine, L-valine, L-proline, L-threonine, L-isoleucine, L-histidine, and L-phenylalanine promotes the production of endothelin-1, and is also effective in whitening.
