PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hydroxypropylcellulose which has a well controlled drug dissolution rate, and is suitable as a solid formulation having an excellent formability, a binder used for production of the solid formulation, and the like.SOLUTION: The invention provides hydroxypropylcellulose in which the content of a hydroxy propoxy group is 40-80 mass% and the viscosity of an aqueous solution of 2 mass% at 20°C is more than 4000 mPa s to 10000 mPa s or less.
